PhD Thesis cover design

A. elegans recently had the pleasure of designing the cover thesis for Anne Wiennand, a PhD candidate at the Donders Institute. Anne's research focuses on the mechanisms of motor neuron degeneration in conditions such as Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) and Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease (CMT).

For the cover, Anne provided a reference image of a metallic sculpture, symbolizing the deterioration of motor neurons in these diseases. Through several collaborative feedback sessions, this vision was transformed into a final design that reflects the depth and significance of her research.

FENS 2024 Vienna

A. elegans attended FENS 2024 in Vienna as part of the Special Interest Event "The Art of the Mind," presenting "From Manuscript to Illustration." The presentation detailed the process of transforming a manuscript into a graphical abstract and a magazine cover. If you would like A. elegans to present this topic in your lab, please contact us!

Stamping workshop for FKNE

A. elegans participated in an FKNE reception, where guests had the opportunity to stamp their own tote bags using various neuroscience-themed linoleum stamps. Our three helpers, Anumita, Anne Sophie, and Abdel, enjoyed demonstrating this artistic technique to our academic guests.
